Longford County Council has established a dedicated multi-disciplinary team tasked with addressing the issue of unfinished housing developments within County Longford.
The team has adopted a collaborative approach and works on the basis of working together to find an agreed solution to resolve issues identified within unfinished estates. This collaboration includes working with developers/receivers/banks and residents of estates, who are directly affected by the conditions in which they live. The end result is to create an improved quality of life for the residents and to establish pleasant places where people wish to live, work and visit.
Open communication throughout the process both with developers/receivers and the residents of the estates forms an integral part of the entire process. The Unfinished Estates Team has developed a system of communication for residents of the estates, which includes the development of an information guide for all residents living in unfinished estates. The Unfinished Estates team encourage meeting with residents at a very early stage, advise them on setting up a Residents' Association so that they can more effectively engage in the process and provide contact details of the team to the residents to ensure that they have the ability to keep up to date on the process
